Proposed Visit to Domont in September 2008
The Shepshed & District Twinning Association are inviting Leicestershire cyclists to take part in a ride to their twin town of Domont (about 20km north of Paris). It is hoped that this will take place in September.
Last May a group of 20 people cycled from Domont to Shepshed. The visit was supported financially by the local council. Some CTC members hosted some of the visitors. A variety of activities was organised, including a very enjoyable cycle ride round the area lead by Stephen Dee, which was considered a great success.
Domont cyclists are keen to welcome a return visit, and are beginning to make plans. The preferred dates to arrive in Domont would be either the weekend of September 13th or that of the 20th.
The Twinning Association will do all it can to support this visit, for example by helping where necessary with translation. Application has been made to local councils for grants and it has every hope of getting some financial support.
The Association hope that a reasonably sized group will take part in this visit. If you are interested in taking part please let Ray Clay know by the end of February and indicate what kind of accommodation you would favour i.e. families, hotel etc.
